Practice Notes are designed to help complainants and broadcasters understand the approach the BSA is likely to take in considering issues about standards.
Note, however, that the statements made in these Practice Notes do not bind the BSA in any way. Each complaint is determined on the particular facts surrounding a broadcast.
The BSA has issued the following Practice Notes. All are available as downloadable PDFs:
- Law and Order as a Broadcasting Standard (May 2006)
- Good Taste and Decency as a Broadcasting Standard (November 2006)
- Denigration and Discrimination as Broadcasting Standards (December 2006)
- Privacy as a Broadcasting Standard (June 2010)
- Privacy Principle 1 (June 2011)
- Privacy Principle 4 (June 2011)
