Seen and Heard: Children’s Media Use, Exposure, and Response
This major study was published on 6 May 2008.
It reports the findings of a qualitative study of children’s use of electronic media, and the way parents and children mediate that use. It involved interviewing more than 600 children aged between six and 13 and their primary caregivers. The focus of the research was how New Zealand children use and respond to television, radio, the internet, and cellphones.
The research updates information collected for a 2001 study by the BSA, The Younger Audience, and takes into account the significant changes that have taken place since then in how children use traditional and new media.
