20/20: "A Pregnant Silence". A prison officer accused of a sexual relationship with an inmate was the subject of a broadcast. Film called The Cowboy Way featured actors as two cowboys who travelled to New York to find the killer of their friend. A scene in the film depicted a calf being prepared by the cowboys to suckle on a man’s penis as a form of torture. Not upheld: majority (good taste and decency).

3 National News and 3 News Update. In an item on 3 National News the reporter described a man convicted of sexual crimes against young boys in his rugby club as a "homosexual paedophile"; in another item on 3 News Update which was previewing the Gay Games in Amsterdam, the sports reporter stated that the Gay Games contained such events as "handbag throwing and the 200 metre dash in high heels".
