One Network News. Item broadcast between 6.00–6.30pm covered police chase in Los Angeles in which two bank robbers were eventually shot and killed. Not upheld (good taste and decency, children's interests).

Women's Action for Justice and Television New Zealand Ltd - 1997-065

One Network News. Item reported on unsuccessful appeal to the Privy Council against a woman's conviction for murder of her husband. Included comment from sister of the man murdered that "She wasn't a battered woman." Not upheld (accuracy).

An Immigrant Nation: From Sri Lanka with Sorrow. Documentary looked at two Sri Lankan families, one  Tamil and one Sinhalese, living in New Zealand and explored with them the reasons for their immigration to New Zealand and the links they maintained with Sri Lanka. Complaint that programme was unbalanced in its representation of Tamils in Sri Lanka. Not upheld (balance, accuracy, fairness).
