The Accused. Film about rape victim in which she challenged the "she asked for it" attitude to rape. Not upheld (violence).
Murder in the Heartland. Two-part mini-series dramatisation of the story of a mass murderer in Nebraska. Upheld (violence). No order.
Shortland Street. A number of episodes had dealt with the alternatives facing a character after becoming pregnant, and finally she decided to have the pregnancy terminated by an abortion. Not upheld (law and order, balance).
Ren and Stimpy. Repeat of an episode of adult cartoon, complaint about time it was broadcast (6.00pm). Not upheld (good taste and decency, children's interests).
Just Kidding. Segment featured a practical joke in which a man in a straitjacket was seen asking passers-by for help. Complaint that the shot had portrayed mentally ill people in a denigratory manner and as inherently inferior. Not upheld (discrimination and denigration).
