You’re all well used to hearing from Glen, our Chief Executive. On this occasion it’s me, Susie Staley, BSA Chair, getting in touch to let you know that Glen is leaving us in June.
He is going to work on the creation of the new public media entity, as RNZ’s head of transition.
During his time with the BSA, Glen has overseen a review of the Broadcasting Standards Codebook which is nearing completion and worked closely with officials and others on the project to review the content and regulatory sector.
His time also coincided with a major upsurge in complaints off the back of COVID-19 and elections here and in the US. This has seen the Authority issue important decisions and guidance tackling key issues such as the proliferation of misinformation.
In his work, Glen has prided himself on the relationships he was able to build with our team and a range of broadcasters and stakeholders.
You can be assured that he, and we, are committed to a smooth handover to a new Chief Executive once an appointment is made. We, of course, welcome interest in the role.
In the meantime, work continues under Glen’s leadership, including towards publication of a revised Broadcasting Standards Codebook – and members of the broadcasters’ working group can expect to hear more on this shortly.
We wish him well in his new role and look forward to continuing to work closely with broadcasters, stakeholders and audiences.
