Henry and June promo. Promo for AO classified film broadcast during Star Trek. Not upheld (good taste and decency, responsible programming, children's interests): action taken sufficient (though the referral of the matter to the Authority amounted to dissatisfaction with the G22 standard rather than with TV3's decision or action).

Morrison and Radio Otago Ltd - 1995-039

93 ROX. A newspaper story dealing with a family in China which was decimated because an infant son was mutilated by his siblings was dealt with in a light-hearted broadcast. Not upheld (good taste and decency).

England and Television New Zealand Ltd - 1995-040

X-Files. Programme dealing with events based on the paranormal and screened at 8.30pm  showed a malevolent force set free in a small American town with a number of murders ensuing. Not upheld (violence).

England and Television New Zealand Ltd - 1995-041

The Accused. Film about rape victim in which she challenged the "she asked for it" attitude to rape. Not upheld (violence).

England and Television New Zealand Ltd - 1995-042

Murder in the Heartland. Two-part mini-series dramatisation of the story of a mass murderer in Nebraska. Upheld (violence). No order.

Society for the Protection of the Unborn Child and Gliddon and Television New Zealand Ltd - 1995-032, 1995-033

Shortland Street. A number of episodes had dealt with the alternatives facing a character after becoming pregnant, and finally she decided to have the pregnancy terminated by an abortion. Not upheld (law and order, balance).

Daczo and Television New Zealand Ltd - 1995-034

Ren and Stimpy. Repeat of an episode of adult cartoon, complaint about time it was broadcast (6.00pm). Not upheld (good taste and decency, children's interests).

Chapman and Television New Zealand Ltd - 1995-035

Just Kidding. Segment featured a practical joke in which a man in a straitjacket was seen asking passers-by for help. Complaint that the shot had portrayed mentally ill people in a denigratory manner and as inherently inferior. Not upheld (discrimination and denigration).

Mudford and Television New Zealand Ltd - 1995-036

One Network News. Item reported the decision of the Prostitutes Collective to support HIV-positive sex workers who continued to work. Not upheld (good taste and decency).

Taylor and TV3 Network Services Ltd - 1995-037

3 National News. Report of an accident that morning where a schoolboy cyclist had been hit by a truck and killed. The pictures showed the cyclist lying on the ground at the scene of the accident. Not upheld (good taste and decency, fairness).
