Susan Freeman-Greene to leave the Broadcasting Standards Authority

The Broadcasting Standards Authority Chief Executive Susan Freeman-Greene is leaving the organisation after three years to lead a professional body.  She will depart in the new year.

Broadcasting Standards Authority Chair Peter Radich says "Susan has been an excellent CEO and leaves us with our appreciation for what she has done for the BSA. We wish her well in her new position as CEO of a substantial non-Government non-profit organisation".

We have begun a process of recruitment for this role. If you would like to apply, or know someone that would like to apply for the role as our Chief Executive, please read the advertisement below.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE

  •          High-profile leadership position
  •          Regulatory environment

The Broadcasting Standards Authority is an independent Crown Entity responsible for upholding broadcasting standards by way of considering complaints, providing oversight of the Broadcasting Act, and supporting these functions with information and communication.

The Chief Executive will be responsible for the operational function of the Authority, for public sector responsibilities, and will lead a small team that includes legal professionals. The appointee will be the key point of contact for broadcasters, and as such will maintain and enhance relationships with them.

To be successful in this high-profile organisation, you will be a proven leader. You may have experience within a regulatory environment and/or in the public sector. You will be analytical, strategic-thinking and intuitive. You must have a passion for people leadership and external stakeholder relations, with the proven ability to engage effectively and develop and nurture relationships. An interest in broadcasting, along with a legal background, would be an advantage.

The Authority exists in a rapidly changing environment as media converges. This poses challenges for the regulatory and legal framework in which it functions. This is a highly-sought after position that would suit an aspiring leader or legal professional who wants to step-up to leading a small organisation in the public sector and work with independent Authority members.
