Complaint that the item lacked scientific credibility and used a deceptive programme practice and was misleading, as it could have raised false hopes for cancer sufferers. Ice As. Skit about eating St Bernard dogs. Complaint that this was offensive behaviour. Not upheld (good taste and decency).

Hill and TV3 Network Services Ltd - 2000-123

3 News. Item about Parihaka commemoration. Complaint that item did not provide full and accurate information about the history of Parihaka, and that it had been unbalanced and biased in favour of the Parihaka Maori as a result. Not upheld (accuracy: further historical information not required).

Harang and Television New Zealand Ltd - 2000-124

Documentary New Zealand series: "The Complainers". Programme showed a woman’s breasts and a man’s genitals. Complaint that the nudity was offensive behaviour. Not upheld (good taste and decency, children's interests).

Radio Pacific talkback. Complaint that host made misleading comments about Tranz Rail and its safety record, then the next day broadcast comments about the complainant, who had written to Radio Pacific about the broadcast. Upheld (fairness, accuracy). Order (broadcast of statement).

National Radio: Arts Week. Interview with author of book "Who Paid the Piper?: The CIA and the Cultural Cold War". Complaint that the interview lacked balance. Not upheld (balance: clearly author’s opinions).

60 Minutes. Item on the decriminalisation of prostitution examined how decriminalisation had worked in New South Wales, where prostitution had been legalised for some time. Complaint that the broadcast was unbalanced because no views which opposed the proposal were heard. Not upheld (balance achieved within the period of current interest).

Dawson’s Creek. Teen drama contained references to sex and condoms. Complaint that it had an incorrect PGR classification. Not upheld (children's interests, programme classification).

Most Wanted. Broadcast of the music video for the song "The Real Slim Shady" by Eminem. Complaint that video contained offensive behaviour. Not upheld (good taste and decency, children's interests).
