Barrow and The Radio Network Ltd - 2000-020

91ZM. Song by The Bloodhound Gang played at 7.45am. Complaint about sexually suggestive lyrics that were considered to promote offensive behaviour and be harmful to children. Not upheld (good taste and decency, children's interests).

McGlone and The RadioWorks Ltd - 2000-018

Radio Pacific. Host advised caller to lie to the Accident Compensation Corporation in order to obtain a benefit she was not legally entitled to. Upheld (law and order): action taken insufficient. Order (broadcast of brief summary of decision).

Cannell and The RadioWorks Ltd - 2000-007

Radio Pacific talkback. Host referred to caller in a derogatory way. Not upheld (good taste and decency).

Sheaf and TV3 Network Services Ltd - 2000-009

Target. Segment advised viewers how to remove graffiti from a variety of surfaces; the graffiti included a number of messages couched in schoolyard language. Complaint that the messages used phrases that were both childish and totally inexcusable and contained "emotional smear tactics". Not upheld (balance, responsible programming: subliminal techniques).

Collier and Television New Zealand Ltd - 2000-010

Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man. Action movie in which two men stole mob money to prevent their friend’s bar from being closed down. Complaint that the film contained language and "gross violence" that breached broadcasting standards. Not upheld (good taste and decency, violence).

Boyce and Clow and Television New Zealand Ltd - 2000-011, 2000-012, 2000-013

Havoc 2000 Deluxe. Included a sequence in which a young man was shown stapling his genitals to a cross and then setting it alight. The programme the following week referred to the incident and the complaints it had generated. The original programme also included a sequence where one of the presenters asked a woman on the street if she would consider "a blow-job for four [dollars]". Not upheld (film of genitals being nailed to piece of wood, and programme a week later that referred to it: good taste and decency). Not upheld: majority (the question put to the woman: good taste and decency).

Baulch and The RadioWorks Ltd - 2000-014

Radio Pacific. Host described parking wardens as "low lifes". Not upheld (good taste and decency, social responsibility).

Rajan and Access Community Radio Auckland Inc - 2000-008

New Zealand Tamil Society broadcast. Text read out concerning the Nallur Kandaswamy Temple of Sri Lanka. Complaint that the text contained four factual errors. Not upheld (accuracy, balance).

Brooke and Radio New Zealand Ltd - 2000-001

National Radio: Kim Hill. Editor of recently published first issue of "The Best Underground Press – Critical Review" interviewed by Kim Hill. Claimed interviewer was rude and antagonistic, treated her unfairly, did not give her an opportunity to advance her opinions, and there were some inaccuracies in the interviewer’s comments. Not upheld (balance, fairness, social responsibility).
