Programme featured a woman's nightmare housemoving experience and used footage of a truck belonging to Brittons Housemovers to illustrate the move, though Brittons had had no connection with it. Johns and Television New Zealand Ltd - 1999-201, 1999-202

Motorway Patrol. Segment showed four people undertaking evidential breath tests, having been suspected of driving while intoxicated. Two had their identity concealed by electronic masking, the other two were clearly identifiable. Upheld (privacy, fairness). Order ($500 costs to Crown).

Boyce and Television New Zealand Ltd - 1999-189

Documentary New Zealand: "The London Connection". Host interviewed New Zealanders living and working in London and also visited a club frequented by young New Zealanders where they were shown drinking heavily and where young women were seen dancing topless. Not upheld (good taste and decency).

Mee and The Radio Network Ltd - 1999-190

Radio Sport. Host complained on air that he had been treated like a schoolboy by the manager of the New Zealand Cricket Team. Complaint that a subsequent caller, commenting on the host's treatment by the manager, was dealt with in an "abusive and contemptuous" way by the host. Upheld: majority (good taste and decency). Not upheld (discrimination and denigration). No order.

Bartlett and The RadioWorks Ltd - 1999-191, 1999-192

Yousef and The RadioWorks - 1999-193

The Rock. Morning broadcast included a "joke" about an Indian superette owner and his Pakistani worker. Upheld (good taste and decency, discrimination and denigration). Order (statement, $500 costs to Crown).

Manukau Appliance Service Centre and TV3 Network Services Ltd - 1999-179

Target. Programme reported on four appliance repair centres that had been given a faulty microwave oven to repair, one of which repaired the microwave by bypassing the variable power switch with the result that it could only operate on high power. Not upheld (fairness).

Walker, Noble, Carter, Siew and Grainger and Television New Zealand Limited - 1999-180–1999-186

Holmes: Eyes Wide Shut, and trailers. Film was subject of an item broadcast on Holmes and trailers for the programme were shown earlier on the same day. Complaint that the scenes of lovemaking and nakedness were unsuitable for television viewing, particularly at a time when children would be watching. Not upheld (good taste and decency, programme classification, children's interests, violence).
